Red Mountain (Snow Canyon Overlook)

This was our 3rd ride of the St. George Getaway. We kept the horses at Reinmakers. The trailhead is called Red Mountain.  Not sure why because I didn't see much red at all...mostly gray and white.  It is about 40 minutes north of St. George.  It is another ride that is best ridden with a guide because the trail disappears in places.  I would do it again, but definitely not in the summer.  April was perfect. The views are spectacular.  It can be done as a loop (which we did) or up to the overlook and back the same way. (shorter)

April 20, 2013; I didn't get the entire ride tracked.  Approximate distance: 9 miles. Low Altitude: 4,529 ft; Highest altitude: 4,981 ft.; Trail conditions:  50% rocky, 50% dirt/gravel/sand

Close up of the Red Mountain Parking lot.  Plenty of room for long rigs.

Look out over Snow Canyon, which we had ridden two days before.

Maybe this is the red mountain.

Look at the "worm" creature in the background.
